The Brewers Guild of Alaska, in partnership with Peak 2 Peak Events, are excited to announce The Alaska Craft Brew & Barley Wine Festival. The 2024 event will be back at the Dena'ina Center on Friday, February 2 and Saturday, February 3 with three sessions, all featuring crave-worthy craft brews, barley wines, food and local live music. Are homebrews allowed to be entered?
No, this competition is open only to commercial breweries and commercially available beers.
Does my brewery need to be pouring at the festival to enter?
Yes, this competition is open only to breweries pouring at the festival.
Do i have to pour my competition beer(s) at the festival?
Yes, beers entered into the competition must be available to festival-goers in order to be eligible to compete. Beers must be poured at the early afternoon session on Saturday, February 3. Beers may be available at other sessions but are not required to be.
Is there a fee required to enter the competition?
Yes, there is a fee of $40 per entry for this competition. All proceeds will help to cover the cost of holding the competition and will benefit the Brewers Guild of Alaska.
How many beers can i enter into this year's competition?
A maximum of two (2) barley wines per brewery may be entered into the Barley Wine category. A maximum of one (1) winter warmer per brewery may be entered into the Winter Warmer category.
can non-beers (cider, mead, hard seltzer, hard kombucha) be entered?
No, non-beer products, including cider, mead, hard seltzer and hard kombucha, may not be entered into this competition.
how much volume of each entry is required for the competition?
Samples of this beer are needed for judging throughout the festival: (2) 1/2 pitchers for for 1st Round Friday night, (2) 1/2 pitchers for for 2nd Round Friday night. If the beer advances to 2nd Round, (2) 1/2 pitchers for Best-of-Show if the beer advanced to Best-of-Show. 1/2 pitcher = ~32oz
